On a Long Lonely Night
Before listening to this track, you should turn the volume up, as this is the original version of the track with headroom left for peaks and the full dynamics of the title track from Sko/Torp's 1990 debut album.
The most immediate and paradoxical fact about this hugely successful Danish duo is that they don't sound Danish or Scandinavian at all. On A Long Lonely Night sounds like a genuine American West Coast production, but there's more to it than that.
Although the sound production by Swedish Mats Ronander is, in many respects, close to the American West Coast ideal, it also surpasses it in many ways. During the intense DALI CD Vol. 3 tracklist selection process, this 1990 recording was challenged by many alternatives, but we decided to keep the track as it best represented the genre from start to finish.
