HUSH
HUSH are singer Dorthe Gerlach and guitarist Michael Hartmann. Based in Copenhagen, the duo excels in acoustic pop/Americana with a strain of Nordic melancholy. Their debut album “A Lifetime” was released back in 2004 and went straight to no 1 on the DK chart. The following year HUSH received the European Border Breakers Award in Cannes for their sales across Europe. Since then they have released five more successful albums, most recently “Sand” in February 2018.
For the DALI session HUSH chose to do a cover of “Up To The Mountain”, a Patty Griffin song based upon the legendary speech held by Martin Luther King in Memphis the night before his assassination.
“The Mountain top speech holds such a strong message of hope and perseverance and that same beauty is in Patty Griffins song. It’s always been a favourite of ours. It’s a song packed with emotion and presence and it seemed like the perfect choice for a recording process that allows you to keep everything close, uncompressed and vibrant.”
