Skunk Anansie was formed in 1994. Until their break-up in 2001 they released three albums of which "Stoosh" was the second. Skunk Anansie was regarded as being part of the britrock movement during the late 1990's. Though none of Skunk Anansie's albums or singles ever scored a number one hit in the UK, the band became very popular throughout Europe and the US, touring with well-known artists such as Aerosmith, U2, Lenny Kravitz, and Rammstein.
CÆCILIE NORBY

DAVE BRUBECK QUARTET
When it was recorded in 1959, Columbia Jazz was less than enthusiastic about "Time Out", the album from which "Take Five" on the DALI CD Vol. 2 was selected. It had nothing to do with the artists or the quality of their performance. The "problem" was the compositions. Almost none of the seven tracks were in the - at the time - nearly mandatory 4/4 meter. Columbia was simply afraid that all the "strange" meters would make the LP too uncommercial. They were proven wrong.
HOLLY COLE
Holly Cole (b. 1963) is a jazz singer with a versatile repertoire. Throughout her career she has performed songs from many musical styles, but her most well known work is in jazz. In 1986, Cole founded a trio with bassist David Piltch and pianist Aaron Davis. With this trio she recorded a number records, of which "Temptation" is the most well-known. Lately, she has recorded with larger groups. All songs on the album are composed by Tom Waits. As such, it can be considered a tribute album.
LOREENA MCKENNITT
Canadian artist Loreena McKennitt (b. 1957) has become famous as a singer, composer, pianist, and harpist. However, to most people, she is best known for her soprano voice. She has often been compared to the Irish singer Enya, but McKennitt's music is more embedded in ancient Celtic and Middle Eastern traditions.
JANIS IAN
Janis Ian (b. 1951) produced a constant stream of albums throughout the 1960's and 1970's, culminating with "Between the Lines" (1975) and "Night Rains" (1979). The former album included "At Seventeen", which has become Ian's signature tune. The second contained "Fly Too High" that was a huge international succes and a number one hit both in the US and Europe.
ELVIS PRESLEY
Elvis Aaron Presley (1935-1977) will always be the undisputed King of Rock'n'roll. In 1954, he began his recording career with the legendary Sun Records label. Hower, he only released a couple of 7" singles with this label before his record contract was sold to RCA Victor. The rest is history.
THE WILLY DEVILLE ACOUSTIC TRIO
Born William Borsey (b. 1950), Willy DeVille has become much more of a celebrity in Europe than in his native America. Yet it was there that he performed groundbreaking work and became influential in the rise of several new musical styles in the 1970's and 1980's. DeVille, of Pequot (native Americans), Basque, and Irish descent, is a flamboyant stage presence.
SAYBIA
The Danish band Saybia was formed in 1993. Between then and 2000 they released a few EP's. Then in 2001, they signed with EMI and from that moment, Saybia rapidly became focused. In 2002, the band released their first album, "The Second You Sleep". Within no time, the album reached the Danish charts and within 6 months, more than 100.000 copies had been sold.
SAFRI DUO

TOTO
Toto was formed in 1976 by a group of well-known session musicians. Their self-titled debut album, released in 1978, included the hit single "Hold the Line" and earned the band a Grammy nomination. 1982 marked the onset of the commercially most successful era for Toto. Their new album "Toto IV" yielded three US Top ten hit singles, of which "Africa" and "Rosanna" has become classics.
